Basically you can submit your site by yourself. Check your meta tags (keywords, site description, etc) and go to the single search engines, to look for the "add url" link.
Follow the instructions on the page. You're done (at least for the very moment).
Unfortunately the matter has become so complex and the number of websites is growing so rapidly that it's getting harder every day to gain top positions in the mayor search engines.
